In 2022, Renew Australia partnered with Campbelltown Council to activate vacant spaces on and around Queen Street with creative ideas and enterprises. For more than 2 years Renew Australia managed this project
About Renew On Q
The Renew on Q project was based on Renew Australia’s successful methodology to borrow otherwise vacant space. The program was lead by a local Project Manager to work with the local community, property owners, and representatives, to utilise these vacant commercial spaces and make them available to creatives and entrepreneurs,. The property was provided on a rent-free basis via a 30-day rolling licence and offered to a business that complements, not competes, with existing businesses in the area.
Renew on Q was designed to rejuvenate areas experiencing commercial vacancy through increased foot traffic and activity, whilst supporting local creative and entrepreneurial communities. Through the activation of space and bringing new local ideas and businesses to visible shopfronts, the project aimed to support existing traders by drawing people back into this area via events, workshops, exhibitions and classes.
In September 2025, Renew on Q transitioned to being run internally at Campbelltown City Council as an affiliate member. Find more information, Expression Of Interest and contact details here.
