Managed & DIY Projects
Renew Australia is flexible in its approach and tailors each project to its community and its stakeholders. Renew Australia has developed contracts and insurance systems, engagement and consultation strategies, guides, support structures and a suite of tools to help local communities develop Renew activation programs to transform their vacant spaces. Our managed projects also include a local project manager who is supported by our national team, whilst our Affiliate Membership program allows for partial self-management for organisations who have the resources to run the project in-house.
No matter the style of activation program, by design the Renew Australia model allows for flexible and responsive interventions within a program.
Static & Temporary Activations
Whilst long term programs offer activity across 1-3 year terms, Renew Australia also offers facilitation of mural works, art decal series, projection spaces, and other forms of static installations to compliment long and short term leasing/sales strategies.
These may include artistic decals, projection projects, installations and more.
Scoping Studies
Renew Australia tailors its programs to the individual needs of each town and community, and methodically assesses the feasibility of running a Renew style project. These initial Scoping Studies aim to:
- Engage with local owners, property representatives and vital stakeholders of the region
- Map all known vacancies of the area
- Occupied Mix audit
- Connect with local creatives, artists, local businesses and start-ups
- Ascertain the trends in local residents and the current sentiments surrounding their precinct, and discover the desires for the future of their town.
As with many of Renew Australia’s services, our research based services are scalable to accommodate the goals and scope of a precinct.
Why Renew Australia?
Renew Australia has operated within the public and private sector on a national scale since 2013 has provided rent free opportunities to over 265 participants nationally.
With staff based throughout Australia, the Renew Australia model has been scaled and adapted to bring crestfallen precincts back to life. Renew Australia offers a range of supporting services to supplement our core services, including community consultation, destination marketing, curation, and tailored, scalable activation methodologies.
Renew Australia can also help meet social procurement spend requirements by activating vacant spaces with creative businesses and enterprises. Revenue made from our consulting fees allows Renew Australia to subsidise its services as ‘community builders’, and provide seed funding and support for creative industries across Australia.
Renew Australia strives to:
- Revitalise streets, precincts and towns that are otherwise struggling or in a period of change, by utilising empty spaces for the incubation of creative initiatives
- Create opportunities for creative and start-up businesses, not-for-profits, and social enterprises to trial their idea with little to no overhead, often in a high profile setting
- Support the existing Main Street ecosystem by complimenting not competing.
Renew Australia has proudly worked alongside the following organisations to transform vacant spaces and mainstreets across Australia.
