RENEW Tropical Douglas is a place activation program designed to bring vacant shopfronts and streets to life across the region.
Delivered by Douglas Shire Council as part of the Regional Place Activation Program, in partnership with the Queensland Small Business Commissioner and Renew Australia, the initiative connects local creatives, entrepreneurs and small businesses with rent-free access to vacant commercial spaces.
The program supports people to test ideas, grow their practice or business, and contribute to more vibrant and active town centres, while also helping property owners secure long-term tenants.
Participants include a broad mix of creatives and makers, from artists and designers to educators, performers, growers, social enterprises and community groups.
Backed by Renew Australia’s proven model, the program provides templates, licences, insurance and support to make it easy for participants and property owners to get involved.
